1. Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Salvador Urena my family is From Sinaloa and Guadalajara Mexico. I was born in Sun Valley California and I been in Dallas since I was 12 years old. I have a 3 year old son and I dance and do Real Estate for living.
2. How long have you been salsa dancing?
I started salsa dancing back in my high school days when I turned 16 so that makes it 18 years.
3.What would you say to those beginning to dance or those interested in learning?
I would say jump in full force. Is a great hobby where you will meet new people and give you something to look forward to all the time,and it's great exercise.
4.As an instructor how have you seen the salsa scene evolved in Dallas?
I've seen the scene evolve and grow. Clubs opening and closing and beginners becoming advance dancers taking salsa to new levels. I find it very interesting and exciting the positive outlook that lies ahead.
5 Tell us one thing many may not know about Salvador Urena?
One thing many don't know about me is that I dance hard and work hard. I am an entrepreneur with high goals.
6. What style(s) of dance are your favorite?
My style is on one but love the two, three and four or any beat that makes me move.
7.What is your favorite Salsa/Bachata Congress or Festival memory?
My favorite bachata festival to this day has been San Francisco 2011. Great city and amazing performers.
8. How has your life changed since you began your journey into Salsa?
I feel salsa opens doors. Anywhere you go and meet a new salsa community they bring you as one of them presenting new friendships and opportunities.
9. How has Bachata incorporated itself into Latin Dance in Dallas?
Bachata is taking over. I love salsa but bachata is being played in the radio and clubs more than salsa making it in higher demand. It's also easy to dance making it easier to enjoy faster.
10.Where are your favorite places to dance in Dallas/Ft.Worth?
My favorite spots to dance in Dtown are Stratos, lolitas and Gloria's. The Venus are sexy and good Djs.
